Online tourism hub, Tourism Tribe, has been recognised by Queensland’s peak industry body for tourism, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), as runner up in the annual 2016 QTIC Prize for Innovation in Tourism, announced on Tuesday.

The digital support service was awarded for its online learning hub, a platform that bridges the gap between consumer digital trends and the use of technology, brings a community of like-minded people together and assists managers to improve their tourism businesses through online and offline support and resources.

Prize recipients were announced on World Tourism Day, Tuesday 27 September, by Queensland Tourism Minister Kate Jones. CEO of Digital Coaching International, Liz Ward said she was thrilled to have Tourism Tribe recognised as an innovative leader in shaping the future of the tourism industry.

“Tourism Tribe provides an urgently needed new approach to industry e-enablement through a global community platform,” said Ms Ward. “In just over 12 months since launching we’ve seen unprecedented demand among tourism operators to upskill and adopt digital technologies to improve their business.

“Through this innovative online platform we’ve created a single place to learn and get help that is customised for the tourism industry. Services are accessed in a supported environment, where members can engage with each other and trusted experts to benefit from their experience,” she said.

Now in its fourth year, the QTIC Prize for Innovation in Tourism recognises micro and small to medium sized Queensland tourism enterprises that have demonstrated outstanding effort in innovation of products, services and processes in Queensland. Gold Coast-based Newbook eManagement Technology, a cloud based Reservation System, took out the winning title.
