What is Google Trips? How will consumers use this new tool to access information?

What is Google Trips?

Google Trips is a free app that uses the information from your Google account. It does this by consolidating and organising the information that you receive in your Gmail inbox. This can include accommodation and tour reservations, attractions, hire car details, flights and even directions.

One of the main benefits of this app is the ability to access information when you are offline. It also offers editorial guides to more than 200 cities, and make personalized recommendations based on your Google history.

How does it work?

In order for this app to be effective, Google needs to access information on you, it looks at your searches, interests, emails received and these inform Google Trips

One of the features of the app is Things to Do, which creates custom itineraries based on where you are and for how long, what other people enjoyed and anything that you’ve previously starred or saved on a Google service.

Day Plans

One of the most fun features of this app is its “Day Plans” card. In it, you’ll get suggestions for what to do in your destination, it is based on how much time you have and where you’ll be staying. You get a handful of different itinerary suggestions, too. In addition, you can also make your own Day Plan.
