The Story behind Live Wire Park

Live Wire Park is Australia’s newest and most electrifying elevated adventure park. Located in Lorne on Australia’s Great Ocean Road, Live Wire Park showcases two massive ropes courses, a Canopy Circuit walk, a children’s cubby and the Shockwave Zip-coaster, Australia’s most extreme zip line. Unplug, recharge and set your senses alight with the beauty of the Great Ocean Road whilst zip-lining, roller coasting, climbing, exploring and wandering amongst the beautiful Otway forest.

Who are the people behind your business

Live Wire Park is a family operated business that is made up of a father – son team (Chris and Luke Nisbet) and over thirty passionate Lorne locals.

Tell us something quirky or memorable about you, your customers or your business

As a boy, I luckily spent my childhood in the Great Ocean Road region. I enjoyed surfing and being in the water for most of the time, although when there were no waves I would often wander into the forest with my cousins and imagine creating a “sky village” where people could live and just enjoy being outside. My imagination would run wild with what I could create there; cubby houses, zip lines (I imagined swinging through the trees like monkeys), and all sorts of magical childish fantasies. The Park has been in the making for thirty years, and I have finally created what I envisioned.

"What a great day out. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Jack. My 14 yr old was afraid of heights and Jack went out of his way to assist him through the course & encouraged him to over-come his fears. You are AWESOME Jack, thank you". Stella

What is a thing you love about your business?

This is an easy one! Everything. There’s a terrific positive energy at the Park that is electrifying and contagious. The staff are family and greet customers warmly in a place where people are coming to have a good time. It is also a place where family and friends can reconnect with each other without the distractions of everyday life which creates a almost tangible feeling of belonging. I really am blessed to be operating a Park that allows me the opportunity to put a smile on people’s faces.

What is the company background?

Along with my dreams as a child, it was also my wish to create a business that was as eco-sustainable as possible. We operate completely off grid and collect all of our energy and water onsite (solar energy and rain water). We actively enforce best sustainable practices where possible and are always looking to improve the way in which we minimise the effect of our operations on the environment. My father and I spoke about the idea of creating the Park over a beer one night and basically decided in that moment to open a Park in Lorne, a place we are both very passionate about.

What is your ultimate vision for your business?

I’d measure the level of success of the business by how customers have positively experienced the Park as well as being a sustainable business both ecologically & financially.
