The Story behind Bright Brewery

At Bright Brewery we use fresh mountain water, quality ingredients, craft brewing techniques and sustainable practices to brew our MountainCrafted beers. Located on Great Alpine Road in the heart of beautiful Bright, our brewery door offers award-winning craft beers brewed on-site, paired with meals of fresh, seasonal, local produce for lunch and dinner. We are driven by our values to be authentic and sustainable in all that we do, and to embrace active lifestyles, celebrated with great beer.

Who are the people behind your business

Bright Brewery was founded by current owner Scott Brandon and his late wife Fiona Reddaway in the early 2000s. They founded the brewery with the desire to create a cellar door experience that provided great beer and celebrated the outdoor lifestyle of the surrounding high country region. Scott leads an innovative and experienced Management Team and staff of up to 50 people.

Tell us something quirky or memorable about you, your customers or your business

At Bright Brewery, we’re proudly bike-, family- and pet-friendly! In fact, we love doggos so much that we have a dedicated Instagram page for all our furry friends who come and visit us – @doggosofbrightbrewery We also sell a range of pet merchandise – collars, leads and water bowls – made out of recycled bike tubes!

What is a thing you love about your business?

Bright Brewery is fiercely independent and family owned. It operates on 3 core values that are at the heart of everything we do – Active. Sustainable. Authentic. Brewing is a highly energy-intensive business and we do absolutely everything we can to reduce our impact on the environment; we care about our staff and their well-being and actively encourage our people to lead active, outdoor lifestyles with excellent work-life balance; and we pride ourselves on being active, engaged supporters of the local community, sponsoring in excess of 30 local events, people and causes every year.

What is the company background?

Bright Brewery was born in 2005 from a passion for well-made beer, a love for the town of Bright and its pristine alpine environment, and the adventurous outdoors lifestyle that the High Country provides. Between 2006 and 2011, our humble brewery and adjoining bar was housed in two small tin sheds, with only limited outdoor seating. In 2012, Bright Brewery underwent substantial redevelopment, transforming the small and simple brewery and bar into an environmentally considered, multipurpose, all-weather venue. In 2014, our outdoor Hop Terrace was added, creating seating for over 500 people.

What is your ultimate vision for your business?

Bright Brewery founder Scott Brandon is exceedingly proud of the business he built from scratch with his late wife Fiona. He prides himself on running a sustainable business – not just environmentally sustainable but with sustainable business practices that ensure the business will be around for the long-haul, providing employment for local people and supporting the local community.
