Need to create new content?

We know that running a tourism business is a full time job. At a recent SATIC conference I bumped into a friend of mine who runs a small tourism business in South Australia.

She was inspired by all the presentations and knew that she needed to update her website with new content. Like many tourism operators writing content is a challenge and she like you, probably lacks confidence.

Video

One of the secrets to an effective only presence is authenticity, real people sharing real experiences online. This can easily be achieved with video and armed with a mobile phone, there is one way to create engaging content on your site. Information on how to achieve this can be found here.

The written word

Why not use your new found video skills to create written copy  for your website?  When your guests have finished a tour or are checking out why not ask them if they would mind sharing their experience. If they are shy explain that you are not uploading the video but merely using the words on your website. You should ask their permission and get them to sign a release form an example can be found here. If that is too difficult you could ask them at the beginning of the video for permission, edit that from the written copy and keep for your records.

Take the video and turn it into copy.

Turning video to text is not hard and there are many services available simple Google “video to text”.

We at the Tribe have used Speakertext. You simply create an account, upload the video,  select what you want and in a day or so the text file arrives in your inbox.

You can then take a few minutes to select the copy you wish to use, edit it and upload it to your site.

There you have it, fresh authentic content for use on your website, it could be in your testimonials, or if you ask a specific question it could be in “directions” etc. 

So with little effort, a mobile phone and a little help, your content problem is solved.
