Snapchat is a popular platform with the youth market

This blog briefly introduces what is Snapchat, whether this social media platform is relevant to tourism businesses and how to get started and use it to market to millennials.  Further, a Snapchat tutorial is linked down below.

Snapchat is the most popular and fast-growing social media platform for tourism businesses. It is an app where you share a “in-the-moment” snap (photo or video) with filters or texts overlays. Over 22% of Australia people are on Snapchat which made it to be the fourth popular social media platforms. Is it really necessary to bother learning this new social media platform or is it enough to just use Facebook?

Snapchat is different from other social media platforms where people can share or comment on on your posts. Also the short-life nature of a “snap” may seem less useful to businesses compared to traditional advertising and promoting. However, more and more businesses are turning to Snapchat to connect with their young target markets.

Actually, Snapchat is more than about disappearing selfies that popular among teenagers. It brings lots of opportunities to the tourism business, considering its “Story” feature, “Snapchat memories” feature and multiple paid advertising options. Currently, well-known organisations such as Disneyland, National Geographic, and CNN are all active on Snapchat and they have successfully drawn loads of attention by launching a series of interesting campaigns on Snapchat. A few Australian tourism businesses are also active on Snapchat, such as Perisher, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere.

You may wonder whether this app is right for you? Here is a tutorial that may help you to decide if it’s relevant to your market and how to get started using it your business.
