Do you feel like you lack inspiration or skill when it comes to sharing an engaging story that is related to, or about, your business?

The Storytelling month is packed with practical tips and content designed to give you the direction, inspiration, knowledge and skill needed to tell your stories and weave them into content that can be used for promotion of your business.

Our panel session will welcome industry experts Deborah Friend, Hannah Statham and Fabienne Wintle, who have a wealth of knowledge and tools ready to share with you so you can be a step ahead of the rest when it comes to the art of Storytelling.  The session will be facilitated by tourism strategy expert and Tourism Tribe co-founder Liz Ward.

Our live workshop session will be presented by branding, content and social media expert Hannah Statham.  Hannah will take you through what you need to know to create the core story for your business and how to tell fantastic stories to enhance your guests’ experience and to attract and engage your audiences in your marketing channels.

During the storytelling immersion month, members can tap into the private Tourism Tribe support forums to address any issue that may not have been covered. Tourism Tribe experts will be on standby to answer your questions and share their tips with you.

Week 1 – Build Your Business Story (20 min)

As a warm up and to get you in the storytelling mindset you will create your business story using Our Magic Tourism Story Builder. This will ask a series of questions designed to highlight the origins and uniqueness of your business. This will get you thinking about the origins of your business and your unique selling point.

Week 2 – Live Panel Session – Thursday 6 December 11:00-11:45 AEST

Delivered by successful entrepreneurs and experienced business leaders, the panel will share their top advice for how to structure and express the key points in a story to ensure that it is engaging for the listener or reader. It’s the perfect opportunity to review what makes your business unique and pinpoint the kind of content your customers want to engage with.

Hannah Statham – Director of Media Mortar

Hannah is a Brisbane-based media specialist with seven years’ experience managing marketing campaigns, writing clickable-copy and running social media accounts. Even though she barely clears five foot, she could easily enter herself in the heavyweight content marketing division. It’s apt she is chief of strategy, ideation and content at Media Mortar.  She has worked in a variety of industries from finance to tourism, and loves nothing more than putting a target on her audience’s back and hitting them with bullseye accuracy. When she’s not at work, you’ll find her walking her rescue greyhound Olivia or drinking pinot noir; rarely at the same time.

 

Deborah Friend – Owner and director of Write Away Whitsundays

Deborah is the owner and sole director of copywriting and content agency Write Away Whitsundays, in North Queensland. After 10 years, there’s not a lot she has not written, from blogs and website copy, to articles and media releases and advert and promo copy. A qualified journalist, storytelling has always been at the heart of what she does and it has played a key role in her 30+ years in marketing and public relations. “Storytelling is both an art and a science, and that’s why it fascinates me,” she says. Deborah loves everything about living in the wonderful Whitsundays – the beaches, the swimming, the snorkelling and sailing – and wouldn’t live anywhere else!

Week 3 – Live Workshop – Thursday 13 December 11:00am-12:00pm AEST

The live workshop will follow with case studies and step by step advice on how to identify your unique selling point and construct a good story that will engage your customers.

Live workshop topics:

  • What is your unique selling proposition (USP)? What makes you one-of-a-kind?
  • Identify your target market and their preferred communication platforms
  • Identify the key emotions your visitors want to feel during their experience with you
  • Using props to enhance your storytelling (e.g. images and video)
  • The ongoing evolution of storytelling – how will storytelling support your business objectives?

Week 4 – Q&A session – Wednesday 19 December 11:00am-11:45am AEST

The Q&A session is the final session for the month and will ensure all participants have the opportunity to discuss what they have implemented during the month and have any remaining questions answered.

FAQs

I can’t do one of the dates, do I miss out?
If you cannot make one of the sessions you won’t miss out.  All participants will be emailed the recording of all sessions and will be able to work through it at their own pace.

What time zones are the sessions?
All session timezones are Australian Eastern Standard Time (Brisbane).
