Sandbar has always been a family run business designed to feel like a holiday home away from home. It’s welcoming and relaxed with our staff always treating guests as close Sandbar friends. We think you’ve either got that or you don’t. It’ can’t be manufactured, it comes from the heart of the people and the business. We obviously take our food, drinks and service very seriously, balancing it out with our positive work perspective. We’re in a fun beachside destination so we like to be a fun place to be at! We find people come back to Sandbar to keep enjoying a slice of the good life.
What’s the favourite thing you love about your business?
We’ve seen a lot of changes in our twenty years and proud of the tradition of creating memories for so many locals and visitors over the years. The new Sandbar puts a strong emphasis on seeking out quality fresh food, on-point cocktails, countless craft beers, notable wines and stand out coffee for savvy guests. We know from years of experience that it comes down to having passion for what we do and what we serve that keeps us coming in every day and customers coming back all year round.
What’s the company background?
Twenty years ago, Sandbar started out as Boardwalk Café, opened by Jo-Anne and Greg Short in 1988. The Shorts had migrated north from NSW’s Central Coast with a young family and opened the restaurant as a traditional bar-bistro on the beachfront. In late 2016, it was reinvented to deliver a more sophisticated and contemporary Surfers Paradise dining and entertainment experience and continues to grow its reputation of beach fun by day, and urban entertainment by night. Like the destination it resides in, Sandbar continues to stand the test of time as a modern classic.
What’s your ultimate vision for Sandbar?
We established Sandbar with the slogan ‘Good times, All the time’ and our plan to is keep on providing a place for simple daily enjoyment; to make memories and create good times for another 20 years.
