Tell us something quirky or memorable about you, your team, your customer or your business
I remember a Chinese couple who came on the Kuranda Riverboat with their young son. They really enjoyed the cruise but when the time came for them to disembark their son refused to leave and held on steadfastly to one of the poles on the boat. He loved the experience so much that he just wanted to continue cruising on the river. Eventually his parents were able to pries his hands free and take him off the boat but he cried loudly all the way back up the stairs to the railway station! He was definitely one of our most satisfied customers!

What’s the company background?
Kuranda Riverboat Tours is one of the oldest continually operating tourism businesses in Kuranda. The business was originally established by Brian Clarke in 1982. He had a 20-seat timber vessels constructed back then named the ‘Kuranda Queen’. The timber vessel was replaced in 1994 by a 30-seat aluminium-hulled boat named ‘Kuranda’, which is still in operation today. The business’s ownership changed in September 2015 when the current owners, Warren and Melissa Clinton, took over the business after letting Brian know they wanted to buy it some years earlier, once he decided to retire.
